My favorite tradition of the year...

...waiting around Kate's desk as she opens the mail in April, which contains replies to our offers of admission. Of course, along with acceptances of our offers come 'rejection' letters, as well--those admitted students informing us that they are headed elsewhere. So the officers gather and share the joy when one of our students enrolls at Kenyon, and likewise, commiserate when we learn that a particular student will not be a member of our class. Here's a picture our dean snapped yesterday of the daily mail 'line-up'.

That's me in the background, of course. To my left is Darryl Uy (director of our office), Kathryn Gallagher '09 (counselor) and Liz Forman '73 (sr. associate director).
